I'm still a total control freak making most of Greta's food, and while we do give Greta treat-treats sometimes, we're trying to make the word "treat" mean something healthy. I have a very simple recipe that I originally made for my vegan friend, who we'll just call "Crazy Vegan Tim." It's totally simple, it's very healthy, and Greta gobbles them up. Pat and I may have nerve fatigue since we are trying to be healthy, but we think they're a super tasty for such a guilt-free snack. Enough talk, here's the recipe.

Fran's super awesome awesome cookies

Preheat oven to 325. Grab 3 bananas and squish 'em up. Add 2 cups of rolled oats and 1/3 cup of no-sugar-added applesauce, and combine ingredients. You can add things if you want: grated carrot, diced fruit, nuts, whateves. Drop by large teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. They don't spread, so feel free to crowd 'em right up. Bake for 20 minutes, and then cool on rack.

One batch makes about 12, so I often double and freeze half. They're good!

+ - Hi mystery person who loves cookies. I'm so glad you enjoyed them. Hell, you can eat the whole batch right away. There's no shame in these cookies!

best cookies EVER. Now the trick is not eating the whole batch right away.

Cookie sounds great! I'll bet old folks can eat them, too! With Mike allergic to peanut butter and chocolate, making a "treat" is plenty tricky. I'll be trying these!

Kimmie - I got the photos. Thanks so much! Do we have some cute girls or what??

Lavery - Aww, shucks. I do what I can.

i love you fran.
if controling what your child eats makes you a control freak, than count me in. i cannot stand watching people feed kids junk.

I think I've turned into a semi-health nut since having Maddie. Add that to the other things I now feel responsible for. Not to mention, I too am a control freak. No wonder I have a few more grey hairs these days.

PS. I'll get those pics to you one of these days...

Kensey - Hmm, having a kid will definitely make the control freakiness in you shine. Tell Tim I said good luck with that! ;-) I have another book to send you too. I think it's called the Well-Fed Baby or something like that.

Amy - And this recipe is even easier than making banana bread! Rooooock!

i have three bananas sitting on my counter just begging to be made before they start liquifying! i'm making these tomorrow.

a healthy cookie... God bless! Thanks for the recipe. I have already bought a book about making baby food (it is a really great book with lots o' recipes) and I know I haven't even had the kid yet and that you don't start "real" foods until 6 months- do you feel like less of a control freak in comparison?

Soup, these cookies are definitely good for you since you're a health nut now. : )

I assume you're running the Corporate Challenge tonight? Good luck! If you blow past Pat Reed, be sure to say hi!!
