low key and loving it
This week is my Summer vacation. My company has a shut-down week the week of the 4th of July, which is great for me. It actually forces me to take a substantial vacation, which I would probably not do otherwise. So far, this year's vacation is better than last years, for the simple fact that our computer is still functioning. Last year, our computer died the morning of the first day of my vacation. I actually had to go to the *gasp* library and just show up at friends houses and act like I was really there to see them. Then, I'd wait the respectable five minutes before asking to use their computer. Hehe. Just kidding!!! (sorta) Oh yeah, here's what our computer looked like after it died. I'm no expert, but I think that all that dust and cat hair may have been the culprit.
So far, my vacation has been great. I haven't been to any bars and I've been in bed before midnight every night but one. That may not have fit my criteria of "great" in the not-too-distant past, but right now, it's pretty darned cool.
Friday night, we had a very small impromptu gathering at our place. We hung out on the porch, watched some dork crash a Vespa right in front of our apartment, and watched some Girls Gone Wild DVDs that we recently acquired. By the way, GGW is disgusting, but I digress.
Saturday, we went swimming at Amy's house. I never thought I'd say this but I had so much fun swimming! That night, we went to Scott's and hung out in his backyard.
Sunday, we hung out over at Cima's. The original plan was to go to Food Mike's and watch the fireworks, but it started to pour. I thought for sure the fireworks show would be cancelled, but then, as we sat on Cima's porch, the fireworks started going off! We all got in Amy's car and got a great view from Highland hospital's parking garage. It was great. Then, we got garbage plates and called it a night.
Monday, my first official day of vacation, I had lunch with Food Mike. I wanted to get together with him to talk about Kung Fu. He's been taking Kung Fu for years, and I wanted to ask him some questions. I've been thinking about taking some form of martial arts for years, but I have no clue about what kind to study and what school to go to around here. I'm actually going to go to his class tomorrow night and check it out. I'm so excited!! Monday night, we went to Rebecca's and watched Stuck on You. It was actually quite good.
Today, I've been getting boxes and packing stuff, and started packing all of the stuff we won't need in the next month. Damn, we've got a lot of stuff. Tonight is laundry night with Peter!
We hope you all had a great fourth!

It's going to take a while for me to get that image out of my head.

Fran,
Kevin and my other roommate, Noshir, took kung fu in Rochester. If you want I can ask them where they took it and what/where they recommend.
