Happy St. Patrick's Day

With the pending war in Iraq, I felt as if I needed to do something to show that I support the troops. Err, something like that. I'm not going to lie to you guys; I ate beef - of the corned variety. Yes, it's true.

Yesterday morning, after writing the blog about how much I wanted to eat a corned beef sandwich, I got to thinking.

In the six years I've been a vegetarian, I never judged anyone else for eating meat. In fact, I thought it was probably a good thing that most people eat meat. Frankly, I wouldn't want to be driving down the road and hit a cow with my tricked-out Saturn. And, many of you know how much I enjoy smelling meats.

As I was thinking about the corned beef yesterday morning, I wondered why I have been depriving myself of something I wanted so much that I felt that other people deserved. Why should I not be allowed to have this simple pleasure for myself? So, I decided to jump in with both feet. Beef. Why corned beef, you ask? Well, it is St. Patrick's Day, and it is my last offical year as a McCarthy. It seemed like the thing to do.

Now, as I sit at this computer, drinking my 24 ounces of Bud from a can, I do not regret my decision. If you need to find me, I'll be at Outback.
